What Happened to January?????

Seriously people. What happened?!?! I swear it was just the first of the month (and year) and I had all these plans made. Now, it's the 31. The end of January, and tomorrow brings a new month. I got nothing done! I started a couple different things, but nothing actually got complete. I take that back. I celebrated my birthday. That's it. Oh man. And I didn't even keep anyone updated on that! Horrible. Just plain horrible. No better time than the present to see what I really did half-ass  slack on. Bah.

-Read 1 book (startin' out small)
hahaha. I started reading The Night Circus. Got maybe 2 chapters in. I'm ashamed.
-Redo family binder and get it ready for 2013

I did start working on this. Got new pages started and planned out how I'm reorganizing my organization. But didn't get it completed. Although, there is still this afternoon before I go to work, so there is a slight possibility I might be able to get this one done. But don't hold your breath, cause I definitely am not.
-stick to my meal plans (I already have the whole MONTH planned out!)

I totally did this! Well, to the best that I could, everyone knows there are those days you just don't wanna cook, or someone (like parents) want to take you out or have you over. BUUUT...over all, I definitely stuck to cooking meals at home and the meals I wrote down for the month were in fact made. WHOOP WHOOP!
-Save money.

Weeeellll....sorta. Not officially though. And I spent it. hahaha. For my birthday, I decided to take myself shopping. I don't do it very often, and  of all the times to do it, I figured my birthday was as good a reason as ever. And, we've been paying on our credit cards and such to bring those down. Plus, being way ahead of bills. So, yeah, I'm gonna say this was done.
-Redo our guest bedroom.

Ha. Ok. So here's the story on this. We started taking down the wallpaper. OH. MY. GOODNESS. We still have one wall to do!!! This stuff is a pain in my backside! It's put on with superglue. I'm convinced. Needless to say...it's taking a little longer than expected to get that room done. I have ideas of how I want it to look and I am price shopping on everything to get the best deal. We have a new comforter for the room already. But the wallpaper. AAAH...it's killin' me.
-Get quotes for our roof.

Negative. Fail. Didn't even come close to happening.
-FINALLY print wedding/engagement pics

Negative. Fail. Didn't even come close to happening.
-organize 2012 photos

I organized them. Just never burned the pictures on to discs for safe keeping. But they are very nice put away into folders on the computer.
-And of course, celebrate MY BIRTHDAY!!

Check. Check. And Check. On the 20th I went shopping with my mom and then we had dinner with my parents, then met friends downtown for celebrating. On the 21st, my actual birthday, we slept in, grabbed some lunch, took a nap, and then Josh took me for sushi. It was exactly how I wanted to spend my birthday.

I'm still not sure where the month went. I even (and still) feel like I started my list out small, but apparently not. Oh well...maybe February will be more productive around here.

January Goals 2013

New beginnings. That's one of the best parts of a new year. And with our new home, and Josh's new (well, sorta still new) job, this year is definitely going to bring lots of new things. Oh yeah, and did I mention we are anticipating the arrival of our niece?!?!? I think I may have mentioned it in passing. So, let's start this year of with a bang and get some things crossed off our to-do lists. Here's what's in store for us at 805.

-Read 1 book (startin' out small)
-Redo family binder and get it ready for 2013
-stick to my meal plans (I already have the whole MONTH planned out!)
-Save money.
-Redo our guest bedroom.
-Get quotes for our roof.
-FINALLY print wedding/engagement pics
-organize 2012 photos
-And of course, celebrate MY BIRTHDAY!!

I think that's a good start to the new year. Not too much, but it will definitely get us jump started for all this year will bring.

Be sure to check back to see all our fun happenings!!

Happy 2013!

Goodbye, 2012. And helllloooo 2013. 2012, you were great, but I have a feeling that 2013 will be even bigger and better. We had two major life changing event in 2012, and that was Josh finding a new job and  buying our house (yippee!) And we also got to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. buuuut, 2013 will have a lot more bigger moments such as our niece being here in about 3 months (eeek!) and Josh and I starting work on updating our home. A lot of my friends are also preparing for the birth of a child...which is super exciting and I can't wait to meet their little ones. Those are just a couple things we are excited about and can't wait to see what else is in store for us.

So, how did we ring in the New Year?? You would think that since it was our first year in about 3 to actually spend the night with each other (Josh was usually bartending, and I would hang out at the bar or with some of our friends) that we would really be partying it up. Ha. One would think. After much debate about where to go, how to get there, how to get home, how much we wanted to spend, and then add the fact that Josh had to be at work bright and early Tuesday morning; we decided to stay home this year. So, we smoked some ribs in Josh's new smoker and after dinner we had our friends Rikki and Austin over for some celebrating. We haven't gotten to spend anytime with them lately so it was really great to be able to share New Year's with them. We also facetimed (is that right?? I'm still not even sure about the workings of this technology) with Lindsy and RJ in Memphis. The night was, in one word, perfect.

What's that you ask?? New Year's Resolutions??? Well, since you asked...I haven't really come up with many...actually any at all. But just brainstorming here, this is what I would like to see happen this year:

-work on our home, one room at a time, transforming it into our dream house.
-welcome my sweet baby niece into the world.
-have more time with my husband.
-take a few vacations/staycations.
-laugh more.
-stress less.
-eat more smartly.

Totally do-able, right? right. I will also be trying to keep up with our monthly goals, and those will be a little less vague as these are.

Well, I hope everyone had a very safe and happy new year. May it bring you all the joys you could ask for and even some  more. I will now leave you with some pictures from our celebrations.

I heart my rockmate.

cheers!

Happy New Year from Josh and Roxie!
